Bends Toward Justice

“Dear Fellow Activist, Thank you for showing up and getting out there. Your actions are showing the world that you will not let ICE tear through your community and allow them to terrorize your neighbors. Thank you for marching through the streets in the name of democracy and for the beliefs we share, to be good humans to one another. Thank you for your outrage. Thank you for your courage to stand up against injustice. Our hearts are with you, your families, your neighbors, and your children. Our collective future lies in each other’s willingness to fight for what’s right. I hope you know that we see you. Even though I don’t know you, and you don’t know me, I know we both want a better future for our children. I’ll be thinking of you and committing to seek truth, beauty, and joy in the face of darkness. In honor of MLK Jr. Day, I leave you with this: ‘We shall overcome because the arc of the moral universe is long but it bends toward justice.’ -Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., ‘Remaining Awake Through a Great Revolution’. Speech given at the National Cathedral, March 31st, 1968.”
